Equipment Guides - Extended
Pylons
Definition:
A
pole that extends up from the center of the boat on which
a towrope is attached. When the water-skier, wakeboarder,
or jumper pulls against the boat the pylon it compensates
so the boat will not slide from side to side. An extended
pylon raises the height of the rope, therefore increasing
the height of the wakeboarder.
OK. So you know what it is. But do you need one?
This really depends on your ability. For beginner or recreational
riders an extnded pylon or airpole is not really a
must have, but if you are starting to do more advanced tricks,
flips and the like you are going to notice the difference.
Extended pylons are a great because they provide riders with
extra air as you learn more technical tricks but they also
provide additional time to prepare for softer landings.
