2 inch stainless pipe, 2 metres high, I had a aluminium tred plate made for the forward storage hatch with a peg which the stainless pole fits on. ratchet strap round the bow, another for the rear and I'm set. $200 all up.
It's worked fine now for over two years, never bends but a strong boarder can pull the boat over. To be honest it gets in the way as it sits in the walkway to the bow.
For my winter project I plan to build a fold down tower with racks to get eveything out of the way.

| I am hoping on putting a tall socket in bilge & then just needing a bow strap. Would that be strong enough ?

I made a 7ft pole from my brother-in-laws old washing line pole.
Made a bracket out of some heavy gauge 50mm angle iron, steel plate and larger dia tube. The bracket bolts on to the engine rails and stays in the boat. (lucky for me we have an old timber framed centre mount inboard - the pole is in front of the motor) The pole just slots in and has 2 x stainless wire stays to the side of the boat and a nonstretch ratchet strap to the bow. The tiedown and tow points are stainless eye bolts.
Everything steel is painted in POR15 - can't be beaten for rust protection - can't even scratch the stuff off.
Total cost < $100

I have a blue powder coated Ology pylon for sale. I have not cut the side stays so it will fit any boat still if you loosen the crimps, but you will have to get the fitting kit off Ology as I sold my old boat with them still attached. Should not be any more that $50.00
$250.00 - Drop me a message or phone me on 027 444 4478.

| mr exile, that ology pole is a good deal - you'll struggle to build anything cheaper than that by the time you get some fittings welded on a pole, couple of cables made up for the back stays, stainles steel shackles, oversize wagon strap for the bow and a base mounting... the cost adds up pretty quick.

Is there anywhere on www that shows ology poles ?
I've got a jetboat so guess they definitely won't be any standard brackets etc. But if I know what it looks like, how it fits & is braced may be possible to use.

what I really need is some decent pictures to see how they are usually done.
To be honest haven't seen any anywhere. Was around lake aviemore at xmas / new year & only saw a few wake boarders. none with poles but did see a very flashy wakeboat with tower from a distance on lake benmore.

| I will take some pics of it this weekend on the boat. I will post a pic tonight with it just in my garage. Its a cool Blue colour, a couple of small scratches but it breaks down into two for easy storage.

here's a bunch of pics of our pole mount - in case you decide to build one. it all depends on your possibilities for securing the 'bracket'.
running a jet boat you may have a similar option - it'll just be further back in the boat.
