New Zealand Team Training Camps
6th October 2003

On the weekend of 20-21 Sept the first of two training camps were held at BALLISTICS wakeboard camp at lake Atiamuri just 20 minutes north of taupo. With most of the Nth Island team members there it was good to catch up and see how every one was riding. Some had been Overseas and came home with some great results [Andrea Fountain, 3rd open woman’s Euro pro tour].

Local riders who have spent the winter at home have been getting out as much as possible and are also riding very well.

With Jeff and Ant over seas in the USA the feed back is also very encouraging with Jeff wining the Malibu open last month. Our team is looking strong for a top 10 placing at the IWSF Worlds in SYDNEY on Oct 9-12.

Training camp at ORAKEI KORAKO SEPT 26--29

With the kind offer of the Lodge from Craig Gibson we were able to take full advantage of the wonderful facilities and Orakei Korako’s smooth water and fantastic surroundings to bring all but 3 of our full team together. Tony Evans and Jane King traveled up from the South Island for the four days.

Even the god’s were kind to us with 3 days of very mild weather. The conditions were almost perfect.

Tige the boat sponsor to the IWSF Worlds is a boat that we haven’t seen much over hear let alone able to ride behind. So it was great to have Paul Robson bring the new Tige Switch 20 I down for the team to train behind before heading to Sydney.

The wake was excellent and gave the team the time they needed to adjust to this wake before leaving.

This was as much a team building weekend as a training camp, with a team video being made!

Much to the amusement of both the team and spectators as Colette’s brother tried to interview each team member.

THE TEAM LEAVES THIS WEEK FOR SYDNEY AUSTRILIA SO KEEP AN EYE ON THIS SITE FOR RESULTS AND UP DATES.
