Josh Sanders wins APTW Stop 3
Sunday February 6 2005
Australian wakeboarding icon Josh Sanders today over came injury
to win the third round of the Australian Pro Tour of Wakeboarding.
Returning from a two-month injury exile, Australian wakeboarding
icon, Josh Sanders, today won his first APTW event, the J-Star Ride
and Slide in Melbourne’s Caribbean Gardens.
For the second time in the series, the ‘head to head’
format was used with Sanders performing an arsenal of tricks including
an Indy Glide off the kicker, double Up OHH and technical jibbing
across the rails, proving too strong in the clash against Canadian
Rusty Malinoski (2nd) in the final. While Dean Smith (3rd) proved
too strong for J-Star stable mates Brett Eisenhauer (4th) in the
battle for podium position.
Many of the up and coming Victorian wakeboards had the opportunity
to shine this weekend with the likes of Brenton Priestley taking
this opportunity to contend his first APTW event, while Aussie Veteran
Paul Boyd finished in the top eight. But much attention again surrounded
the only female rider on the APTW Amber Wing who won her five-rider
heat in the quarterfinals.
