SUPRA Boats launched in New Zealand this
Summer
September 2007
World pro wakeboarder Josh Sanders and brother Justin have joined
with Tairua Pipe Masters founder Devan Rowe to bring the elite wakeboard
boat brand Supra to New Zealand.
Josh and Justin Sanders – who created the Ride Australia
Tour – teamed up with former wakeboard New Zealand president
Devan Rowe after visiting Tairua on the back of the pipemasters
slider event in February.
The Supra 21V model due to arrive in the country in November will
be used for demonstrations and product testing around New Zealand’s
waterways with exciting events planned to put Supra on the radar.
“My aim is to make Supra the riders choice here, and I’m
sure it will turn heads on harbours, rivers and lakes this season”
said Rowe. “Tairua’s waters will be a perfect testing
ground for these purpose built boats. But we’ll take the 21V
on the road as well to let wakeboarders experience Supra for themselves.”
Rowe – who is the current brand manager for surf and wakeboard
brands Reef and Liquid Force – is one of the country’s
most proactive wakeboarders and is looking forward to building on
the experience and knowledge of the Sanders’ brothers.
Josh Sanders is one of the most popular and successful pro wakeboarders
in the world and has coached riders in all aspects of the sport.
Teaming up with brother Justin to import Supra to Australia, the
pair went on to create Ride Australia coaching sessions with some
of the big names of Australian wakeboarding, and the Supra Grom
Series.
This series offers over $15,000 in cash and prizes which is the
largest prize purse for any junior wakeboarding contest. It enables
competitors to travel to each location of the tour, just like the
'pros' do on the Australian and US Pro Tours.
“The arrival of Supra in New Zealand is an exciting step
for wakeboarding here,” says Rowe. “
