APTW to hit New Zealand in 2008
18th October 2007
For the first time since its inaugural 2003 season, the Air Nautiques
Australian Pro Tour of Wakeboarding (APTW) will visit New Zealand
early in 2008.
As the premier contest series for wakeboarding in the Southern
Hemisphere, APTW has gained worldwide respect as a talent showcase
and for promoting a good attitude towards this rapidly-growing extreme
sport.
Professional riders from all over the world will battle it out with
their skill and creativity right in the heart of Hamilton for the
2008 season’s third stop on 17 February.
APTW director Dimitris Limnatitis said taking the tour to Hamilton
would open up wakeboarding to a much wider range of people and really
lift the calibre of riding.
“This is the first time in the tour’s history we’ve
left Australian shores and the Hamilton leg promises to be a great
family day by the water,” Mr Limnatitis said.
“We’re very excited to be working with Hamilton City
Council to provide a complete day of entertainment.”
As with every event held on Australian shores, the Hamilton leg
of the tour will not only be an action packed spectacle of wakeboarding
skill, but will offer live music, competitions, rides and amusements.
The Pro Tour will also be returning to proven Australian locations
of Brisbane’s Southbank, Sydney’s International Regatta
Centre and Melbourne’s Caribbean Gardens.
With more than 180 pro boarders from six countries expected to
compete for a total prize purse of $50,000, APTW 2008 will be huge!
