stop of the Australian Pro Tour of Wakeboarding
Friday 26th January 2007, Penrith, Australia
Fountain cleaned up her heat in the semi finals at the APTW on
Thursday 25th January in Penrith, Sydney. Perfect conditions allowed
her to throw down new tricks she had been learning & practicing
leading up the event.
The finals were held on Australia Day, Friday 26th and the day
was scorching approximately 30,000 spectators were there to enjoy
the Australian day celebrations with the 3rd stop of the Australian
Pro Tour of Wakeboarding, ski shows amongst wood chopping, dancing
and bands.
6 Pro Women made the highly sought after finals, a cultural mix
of Aussies, a Canadian, an American and a Kiwi, the current WWC
World Champion Andrea Fountain seeded 4th, sending her 3rd off the
dock, she rode a clean & intense first pass, just going down
at the end of the first pass but pulling it back together with a
new trick in her pass.
Fountain ended up in 4th place, just behind fellow Maven team mates
Barrett Perlman and Amber Wing.
“I had stayed in NZ for the first two tour stops to work
on new tricks and train for the finals stops of the APTW, I am happy
I did so, landing one of the new tricks gave me an advantage during
that final and hopefully next week will work out even better.”
